In Fine Arts, Opportunity on March 23, 2010 at 1:29 pm

The Abrons Arts Center Artist-in-Residence Workspace Program provides free studio space for visual artists for 11 months (beginning September 2010). Painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors, video, and installation artists work in collective, semi-private studios at the Abrons Arts Center, located at 466 Grand Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. A clay artist works in a separate shared space adjacent to our ceramics studio. The AIR Workspace Program hosts an annual Open Studios event each year and provides a range of career development opportunities, including exhibition opportunities and studio visits with numerous visiting artists, critics, and curators.

NEW for 2010: Curatorial Residency
This year the Abrons is expanding our residency program to accommodate one curatorial resident. The awarded applicant will receive an office and the opportunity to curate at least three shows in the on-site exhibition spaces. The resident will also have individual meetings with critics, curators, and artists who visit the program each year. A curatorial advisory board will be formed for the resident in order to foster an ongoing dialogue for his or her individual writing and exhibition interests.
